    POTTERSTOCK 2008 (AKA The Roadtrip)
    And finally, announcing Potterstock 2008!

From the userpage (i.e. the blurb):

If you're into Potter conventions, but can't make the big hotel bills for places like the USA, we have another option for you, out in the foothills of the Jura mountains, so that you think you're actually somewhere tropical, and in the blissful middle of summer. Or if you're looking for a bit of Harry Potter run down after the big events, this is the place for you.

This is the camping trip that Harry, Ron and Hermione only wished they'd been able to go on.

More information will be coming shortly, but if you think you'll be heading down, then feel free to join the comm and talk to other attendees, and also let me know. It'll be awfully exciting.

Judging by the dates, we'll be dropping right in the middle between Accio and Terminus. We'll probably aim for a 'start' date of the 28th of July, and run through Harry's birthday (with a big party to celebrate) and out to just before or after Terminus' dates. So think of a fortnight of Harry Potter fun in the sun, with camping, and water fights, and frolicking in the woods.

As we're just in the preliminary stages, I'd love to know if anyone has any ideas that they'd like to submit. I'm suggesting pow wows, fanfilms (later projected onto the big screen), and of course lots of parties, with lots of booze, picnics, water fights, and trips out to see the wonderful waterfalls, laked and mountains that make this area famous (in robes, of course).

The idea is that those who have cars let other people come down beside them, and divide the bill. That said, there will be plenty of other oppurtunities for travel down through other methods, which will go up when we have a site.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Join the community to be updated with more information and start organising your travel arrangements. And watch this space. More will come soon. P.S. Telling other people is suggested. There -will- be necessary monies to be paid for water and extra for electricity/possibly internets, though I'm working on that.

    Fwee!

    There'll be more soon.

A quick update, because I have a headache, and I'm going to go and lie down for as long as it takes for it to go away:

My horse has come down with laminitis. Which. Sucks. It's early yet, apparently, but we had the vet out on Sunday night *gags* and he injected her with stuff. She went into the box, again, just as it was this time last year that she was boxed.

So...she is destined for weight loss and more exercise as soon as she's allowed, and box rest, and all sorts of stuff like that. And I am back to mucking out her stall every day, and washing her feet with cold water to keep the blood flowing, which is horrible in October, I can tell you. If anyone else has had a run in with laminitis, I'd love to know your experiences/have your help.

However, Snarry Games has started posting, and I'm waiting in anticipation of mine going up *glee*.

Snape after DH starts posting soon. I've had one bit done for ages, but I have to finish the other bit. I have until the 1st of November. Which is a fortnight, but doesn't feel that long.

Also, I have written a considerable amount of my Snarry Holidays piece. It's a lot more traditional now, rather than Aldous Huxley and a 200 words a piece between quotes, so we'll see how it goes. I'm quite happy with it if I'm honest. But I'm keeping it quite secret. It has a companion piece bit of art attached to it, which I am very pleased about. Yay knees. It's very pretty - and to be honest, I'm half tempted to draw a companion art to everything I write, like a title sheet.

On top of this, I have Harry Holidays to do, which is perhaps the toughest of my bunnies. It's not far off being scrapped in exchange for a much simpler plot. The problem is that my mind thinks in epics, rather than one shots. I have to remedy that.

My Snarry swap entry is -done-. Kind of. In that I've done it, but I'm not totally happy with it. But I am. But I'm not. We'll see.

    To do list
    Deadlines:

    Snarry Games - 8th October
Snape After Deathly Hallows - 15th October - 15th November
    Snarry Holidays - 6th November
    Harry Holidays - 10th November
    Snarry Swap - 15th December

And so. I am almost finished on my Snarry Games entries. I hope to get all the colouring done by the end of September (a.k.a. tomorrow), and thereafter go on a pattern hunt for beautification. If anyone sees any particularly beautiful swirls and dandybars then send them my way. I'm looking for vectors and kimono patterns and hippy splashes and really...anything.

    You'd make my day.

Snape After DH. I have one thing done. The fic is looking dire. I lost my fic muse, which doesn't help. I start things and can't finish them. I've written the first bit and stalled.

My Snarry Holidays piece is done, but it's 1600 words, and I can't help but think, somehow distracted from the point. I have an intense desire to start again, which isn't very good.

Snarry swap. The linework is done, and the colouring will come thereafter. It's a cute little piece. Silly, since this one is so far off. It'll probably be done sooner rather than later and set aside.

Harry Holidays. This is the one that's looking the most dire. The bunny that jumped at me is massive. It should be given due care and attention. Time and loving. If I could get my muse off its arse to do anything about it it'd be great. My problem is that generally my bunnies are long term friends. I'm not so good with one shots as I used to be.

On top of this, I have non-a-thon stuff to do. I have a lot of writing up of work to do, but that's unimportant. Boring. What else.

In fandom? I'm still playing Wizardwatch, which is excellent, if lagging a bit right now. With less people playing, there seems to be a little less going on. I want more. I want intrigue. Maybe Neville should sleep with Rita again.

I have a Teddy/Fenrir plot that has been tugging desperately at me since the get go. I'll post an excerpt because I can't keep it to myself:

"“Oh, little wolf cub. I’m your worst nightmare.”

Theodore stumbled to his feet with some effort, putting distance between himself and the stranger who had so interrupted his reverie.

The speaker was a man, tall and broad, with obvious strength in his frame, despite the age that had ravaged his features. Long, grey hair lay matted and heavy, like the pelt of a dead animal worn as a trophy about the man’s head. A short, bristled beard and copious amounts of stubble framed the strong features of the man’s face, and thick black and grey eyebrows partly concealed ancient amber eyes.

A sense of emanating danger radiated from the man. It would have been easy to let the fear consume him, but Teddy controlled himself. Perhaps most of the man’s threat came from how he presented himself. He squared his shoulders, and as he narrowed his eyes, his hair blazed red. Really, he ought to have had a lot more control of that by now…

“Who are you? If you came to see Grandma, she’s not here; won’t be until tonight.”

The man’s lips drew back, revealing a set of sharp, yellowing teeth, and this time Teddy did hesitate, retreating a step.

“Do you know who I am?” the man said. His voice was somewhere between a growl and a snarl; Animalistic. “Hasn’t anybody ever told you about dear old Fenrir?”
    "

What else? I want to do something exciting. I don't know. I want to write Fenrir/Harry with a cage. I want to write something with Bellatrix. Anything would do. Bella/Neville. I never thought I'd say that. Snape/James or Snape/Lily or Snarry or Riddle/Harry or...a rewrite of the Malfoy Manor scene. I want something shocking. Something horrid. I want to role play dark fic until my blood runs thick and black, and smelling like patent leather.

My characters are having altogether too little sex. It's shameful. *sad sigh* I can't even get my SIMS to bugger each other, damn it!

I want chains and heels and sensual deprivation and hot and cold and sweet torture and -mating-. Where the hell is it all?

Edit: I forgot to add - Fenrir/Teddy has that creepy kind of Little Red Riding Hood undertone, doesn't it? He lives with his grandmother all alone in the woods, and the big bad wolf is out to get him. *cackles* I'm so going to turn that fairy tale on its head with what I have planned.

Okay. Today I mostly woke up feeling like someone had taken a pickaxe to my head.

I despise waking up with the same migraine I had the night before. *grunts unhappily* So I've wasted three hours of awake time recovering already!

*is stunned, and not sure what to say*

I have been...hosted outside of where I am posted? Or is that just recced. Or stolen - no, my name is there.

It's just bizarre, I'll admit it.

Forbidden Past is mine. *just stares*

I didn't think people noticed me enough to do that.

But fucking awesome. When I search my own name I almost predominately get me. And odd pirate links. Like this: http://loyalfollowers.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=fanfic Which was totally worth half an hour of my life to come across.

It's times like this - 7am on Sunday morning - that I remember why I really, really fucking hate being a girl.

    Really. Fucking. Hate. It.

    Mindalteringlybadagony.

    Spinebendinglyawfulpain.

Two ibuprofen, two paracetamol, and two hot water bottles later and I'm feeling vaguely human...except for only having had four hours sleep, and still -actually- being in pain. Just less of it.

    Note to self:

    Remus' perspective. Werewolf hunt?

    Fenrir x Teddy Lupin

To be added to in the future, but just to remind me while I'm writing HarryHolidays stuff.

Okay...I just woke up at 4.30 pm...which is just WRONG. I thought everyone was playing a trick on me, you know; like they'd changed the clocks to piss me off...but it's not. It is that late. My head's splitting open and I have a crick in my neck. And it's fucking five o clock, and I have -stuff- to do. Damnit!
    3:54 am
My fret fingers hurt like buggery on a stick.

My mouse arm's shoulder feels like cement mixed with nails.

But it is all completely worth it for Snarry WRock.

    It's coming.

    Beta Readers and More
Time I started using this, so, let me begin such:

I am now writing for Snape_after_dh and Harry_holidays, as well as my own fiction, which leaves me in a pretty dire situation. Let me explain: I have never, ever used a beta reader, and the quality of my fic has suffered for it. It's general little things: repetition of words, sentences that go on too long, lack of concentration resulting in the wrong verb or tense, and typical typoes not picked up by Microsoft Word (like to and too, had and has, whole and hole).

This means that I am desperate. I need a beta reader; or for someone to put me into contact with a place where I can get one. Specifically I need help for:

    * Lucius/Harry post-DH fiction, hurt/comfort of a sort, touch of angst, canon compliant. R rated.
    * Harry-gen into Snarry post-DH fiction, mostly canon compliant apart from that one critical detail, and also a little hurt/comfort. PG-13, with minor character death (canon compliant), a lot of angst; preslash, to inevitably be R-NC-17 later.
    * Snarry animagus fic, touch of angst, touch of h/c, touch of comedy. Post-DH, mostly canon compliant, but don't quote me on that. Somewhere between PG-13 and R, but I haven't decided.

    * * * * *

In other news, I am now a member of Team Angst in the Snarry Games, and have to make some decision as to what genres to choose to draw. Need something that'd generate some major love, and since I've already drawn Snape's death scene from DH, and his flight from the tower, it's going to have to be something entirely different. Oh brain...why do you desert me now?

    * * * * *

Finally, it's coming up to the public vote for the first week of Wizardwatch. Neville's already made a few enemies in the house, apparently; Draco and Montague have already voted for him, but that's just because they're jealous. If you'd like to see more of the Herbology Hero, and he's in the final vote, then he will need your help. Keep watching!
